EDC? BoB? What to choose, what to carry, and which kit will really help me?

A lot of people are talking about bug out bags edc, survival and so on. People want to be prepared for disaster when it strikes, and they want to be able to keep their family safe. All this chatter has got some knowelige from another but people don’t know what is ” get home back kit ” is, and how they are different form 72 hour kit. Today I want to go over exactly what each bag is and what makes them different.

In the table you can find approximately how long your set will keep you .Remember that everything ends up curling about your knowledge, skills and situation. In some cases, you can get around a simple multitool (let’s say you are stuck in a supermarket) and in the other you don’t have enough of your own farm …

Checklist #1 City EDC

First of all – City EDC is not a survival kit at all. It’s just a small set of daily use items, witch you may need in daily, office or out  of office life without any disaster.

So, mandatory items for city survival kit at least includes

Must Have

  • Wallet with cash and credit card
  • ID card/passport
  • Small multi-tool (or knife) with screwdriver, can/bottle opener
  • Smartphone
  • Power bank
  • Home/car keys
  • Key hole flashlight
  • Any “Survival Card”
  • Pills (if you need)

To be added:

  • Lighter (gas, zippo)
  • Mini-flashlight (better rechargeable with you power bank)
  • Paracord bracelet or key chain
  • Pain-killer pills 
  • Key-chain Multi-tool- with some sort of pry bar
  • Water bottle/flask with water 🙂 1 liter minimum, better if you will take iron bottle

In simple- this is really what you may need daly, and you can use it even at  office. No more- but not less. 

Checklist #2 EDC

This kit may be say is classical for all preppers , and includes lot of handy items. Can be used alone or with combination with other kits include City EDC.

In most cases they include:

  • Fishing kit

Checklist #3 Survival Kit

Survival kit’s are designed for true emergency – like ear-quake or some other unexpected situation. Main transport is your backpack or bag, but they leave your lot of free space for daly items like laptop. However, included items gives you a chance to survive up to a 3 day’s in almost any situation. This kit contain item, witch primary build for survival and can be named “multi functional” As always- experience and knowelige is best survival tool

#Combination kit

GHB and QRB Bags are combination of EDC and Mini survival BUT!

First difference is size

GHB (Left Picture) is regular backpack or small backpack inside of regular. To return home and take BoB/72H 

QRB- (right side) – custom design,  or some fabric, but it’s ergonomic and inconspicuous. For Quick Run. Not necessarily to home.

Second- Both of them also contain food and water – at least for one day – protein bars, hi-energy bars, energy gel  any- but not canned. Best is 24h ration MRE

Additional components:

Checklist #4 72 Hour kit

Most of survivalist think, that’s in case of emergency you must be prepared for at least 3 day. Im totally agree. 

Unlike EDC and survival kit’s this one contain full 3 day water, food and spare clothes. Theoretically, you will be able to stay alive for 3 day by doing almost nothing- just put shelter and listen to a radio. In real life, in a wildness, or an in emergency you have to relocate and move whole stuff – so this kit’s free you from the search for food but not from survive.

Content on BoB bag is almost same like survival kit combined with 72h kits. But with more comfortable gears (and heavy)

Also, they are build for several person, not for alone survival 

Mostly, BoB kits requires transport like a car. Or separation for two (or more) person. 

In addition to other items they may include (sometime as substitution):

INCH is not a bag. Inch is pre-ready big out place,  in  clean and cover place with underground shelter, food storage, seed, ammo, reverse osmosis system, air filtration and so on. 

In real, this is not some bag, it’s prepared place for living out of civilisation .

On body survival kit is a habit. Habit to carry minimal survival kit always with you.

Remember even when you going to the next door store you always take with you

  3. Keys
  4. Belt (on your pants)
  5. Watches (anyway now it’s popular again)
